AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine voters can begin casting in-person absentee ballots starting Monday, officially marking the start of election season.
Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows held a press briefing Monday afternoon at the State House’s Hall of Flags to discuss the absentee ballot process, including the safeguards in place to ensure that each absentee ballot corresponds to a lawful request.
"Absentee voting is an open and transparent public process with observers from all sides having the opportunity to observe, and this entire detailed process was established to ensure safe and secure elections in which all Maine citizens can feel confident," Bellows said on behalf of absentee voting security.
Mainers will see two big questions on the ballot this year: one about election procedures
