Taking something from a Hollywood movie and bringing it to life is no easy task — but for James Hobson, the Hacksmith, it’s just another day at work.
From functioning lightsabres to bulletproof suits from “John Wick,” Hobson and his team are known for bringing things from the silver screen to reality.
So, when Ryan Reynolds and Amazon called up the Cambridge-based team to recreate the iconic car from “Planes, Trains and Automobiles,” it was an easy answer.
“They came to us with the idea of a fun way for Ryan Reynolds and Colin Hanks to roll up to TIFF, and they wanted to find someone in Canada to do it,” said Hobson.
The Hacksmith’s YouTube channel, which combines real-world engineering with science fiction, boasts more than 15 million subscribers.
