The National Hockey League’s biggest superstar looks to be staying in Edmonton.
The Edmonton Oilers announced on Monday morning that they’ve re-signed their captain to a 2-year extension with an AAV$12.5M per season.
The extension ends speculation of the playing future of McDavid, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 after the 2025-26 season.
“Connor’s commitment to our team and our city is surpassed only by his singular focus on bringing a Stanley Cup back to fans of the Edmonton Oilers,” said executive vice president of hockey operations and general manager Stan Bowman in a release.
The Oilers captain posted both on social media this morning, leading to speculation that he had come to an agreement on a contract extension.
