KINGSTON, N.Y. — Republican state Sen. Peter Oberacker, who represents parts of Ulster County, announced on Monday that he will run for the 19th Congressional District currently held by Democrat Josh Riley.

Oberacker, R-Schenevus, who represents the 51st Senate District, made the announcement in a campaign video he called “Soil.”

“The video shares Oberacker’s personal journey from working in his family’s meat market to building a successful business, that he later brought back home to upstate New York, at a time when so many others were leaving. It highlights his deep roots, faith, and the values he shares with the people of the district, reminding viewers “we are all rooted in the same soil,” a press release said.
