A former Republican National Committee spokesman ripped the Trump administration on Tuesday on MSNBC for twisting a song about giving people a "second chance" into one about "chaining people and vengeance."

Tim Miller of The Bulwark joined "Deadline: White House" with host Nicolle Wallace to discuss a new song from country superstar Zach Bryan, in which he rips Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids.

in the song, Bryan sings, "Didn't wake up dead or in jail / Some out of town boys been giving us hell / I got some bad news / I woke up missing you."

"My friends are all degenerates, but they're all I got / The generational story of dropping the plot / I heard the cops came / cocky m-----f------, ain't they."

He adds, "ICE is gonna come bust down your door / Try and build a house no one builds no more / But I got a telephone / Kids are all scared and all alone."

Bryan's song drew MAGA's ire this week, and Miller noted the music superstar is a significant voice to come out against the Trump administration.

"He's singing in massive football stadiums and this is what he wanted to talk about," said Miller. "And so if he feels comfortable doing that, there are obviously Trump voters in those stadiums, then Democrats should feel very comfortable talking about that too."

He then pivoted to what he called the "grotesqueness" of the administration.

"To troll Zach Bryan, they put out a post. Our Department of Homeland Security. Our country's Department of Homeland Security. Playing one of his songs called 'Revival' over the chaining of immigrants," said Miller. "And it was a way to troll him, I guess, for pushing back on this."

The song is about a former inmate who found redemption and forgiveness through the Bible, friends, drinking, and community.

"That is a song he plays at the end of every set," said Miller. "And for our administration to try to take that — a song that is about redemption and giving people a second chance — and make it about submission and chaining people and vengeance, it is gross. And people don't like it, and they're going to respond negatively to it."

He warned Bryan's message is "going to resonate."
