PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A woman was hospitalized after being shot in the chest early Sunday morning.

Officers with the Peoria Police Department were called at 4:51 a.m. to a local hospital to a report of a 34-year-old woman who had been shot in the chest, said police spokeswoman Semone Roth.

When they arrived, officers learned that she had been transported to the hospital by a "private vehicle," and was listed in stable condition, Roth said.

It was not made clear where the shooting happened. No arrests have been made public in connection with the incident.
