West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday expressed deep anguish over the devastating floods in North Bengal, caused by heavy rainfall and excess water release from Bhutan and Sikkim.
In a message on her WhatsApp channel, Banerjee reassured the people of North Bengal that the state administration is working tirelessly to provide relief and support to those affected.

Banerjee announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the 23 people who lost their lives in the floods. Additionally, one member from each affected family will be offered a job in the Home Guard department.
