The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday expressed concerns over the Election Commission’s neutrality in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Following the EC’s announcement of the poll schedule today, CPI(M) leaders raised questions about the fairness of the electoral process.

“This Bihar election will be the first in our country’s history where the ‘umpire’, the Election Commission, appears to be part of one team in the contest—the ruling party,” said CPI(M) General Secretary M. A. Baby in a social media post after the EC announced the Bihar poll schedule.
