MADISON (WKOW) — Dane County is set to award over $25 million in 2025 to support six affordable housing projects, County Executive Melissa Agard announced Monday.

This initiative aims to create 494 new affordable housing units, with 374 in Madison and 120 in Fitchburg and Mount Horeb. The projects will proceed to the County Board for final approval once they secure full financing, expected by late spring 2026.

“Affordable housing is the foundation of opportunity for people across Dane County,” said Agard. She emphasized the importance of expanding housing options for seniors and those facing housing insecurity.
