CLEVELAND (WJW) -- A 20-year-old man arrested by Cleveland police late Sunday night was found in one of the stolen vehicles at the center of a Second District investigation.

The man was shot just before crashing the stolen vehicle, sometime after 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of West 30th Street and Monroe Avenue, according to a Monday news release from Cleveland police.

Second District detectives investigating vehicle break-ins and thefts on Sunday night learned two of the stolen vehicles had been spotted in the district, according to the release.

While patrolling, they heard the sounds of a gunshot, then a crash. They found the 20-year-old man in the car, suffering from a gunshot wound and rendered first aid until EMS arriv
