GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A full moon is in store for Monday night, but rain chances may limit the view.
The Harvest Moon is set to rise at 6:54 p.m. with full illumination around 11:47 p.m. The Harvest Moon is the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox, which happened on Sept. 22.
The moon is also a supermoon, a full moon that occurs when the moon is at it's closest point to Earth on it's orbit. Because of this, the moon can look around 14% larger than normal and nearly 30% brighter.
West Michigan's view tonight may be limited due to shower and thunderstorm chances. As a cold front sweeps through, rain is expected to arrive late Monday night and continue through Tuesday morning.
Some areas could see significant rain totals of upwards of an inch from this system. Most
