COLUMBIA, S.C. — Friends, family, and community members jumped together in celebration Saturday night to honor the life of Jaysen Carr, a 12-year-old boy who died in July from a rare brain-eating amoeba.
The birthday celebration was held at Altitude Trampoline Park on Garners Ferry Road in Columbia, one of Jaysen’s favorite places.
Jaysen would have turned 13 on Oct. 3. His parents, Clarence and Ebony Carr, shared that this was meant to be his very first birthday party.
“We always gave him an option of a birthday party or a family trip, and he always chose to go to the beach,” said Ebony. “He said that he was going to wait until his 13th birthday to have a party, and we still have it, even though he’s not here.”
