AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Beginning Wednesday, traffic patterns on Georgia Street will be changed temporarily as part of the Georgia Street Reconstruction Project.

According to The City of Amarillo, the southbound lanes of Georgia St. at Stardust Ln. will be closed.

Southbound traffic will be rerouted into one of the northbound lanes.

City officials say normal traffic will resume just north of Farmers Ave.

The latest phase of the project includes installing storm drains west of Georgia St.

Officials say the project is set to take seven weeks to complete.

The city says the traffic adjustment is intended to safely route vehicles around the construction and minimize disruption.

Motorists are encouraged to follow posted signage and exercise caution when traveling in the area.
