Parts of the UK are gearing up for 36-hours of snow in the coming days.

As much as 10cm could fall per hour in parts of Scotland, it has been reported.

October has already had a turbulent start with Storm Amy bringing damage and disruption across the country.

And now, data from WXCharts suggests more turbulent weather is on the way, with new maps indicating the arrival of snow in the next two weeks.

Scotland will welcome the white stuff from 6pm on Friday, October 17 and it will continue to fall through to 6am on Sunday, October 19.

The snow is set to first appear in Perth and Kinross on Friday evening, before intensifying over the weekend, The Mirror reports.
