The UK faces 36 hours of snow with up to 10cm per an hour hitting. New maps and charts, from WX Charts, show a wintry shift over a 36-hour period, possibly reaching a depth of around 25cm within just a matter of days.

The advanced modelling based on the GFS model, and projected by WX Charts, show Scotland is most at risk on October 17 - with snow sticking around through Saturday October 18 and lasting until Sunday October 19.

It comes after The Met Office named Storm Amy on Wednesday, and it's has been more potent than many expected. Scotland has been most strongly affected. A gust to 96mph has been recorded at Tiree in the Western Isles of Scotland, it is estimated that 62,000 people are without power.
