MADISON (WKOW) — Robin Copley has resigned from her position as independent police monitor for the city of Madison due to personal medical reasons.

Copley's last day in the office was Oct. 3, with her final day on the city payroll set for Nov. 4, according to an announcement from the city on Monday.

Copley joined the city in December 2022, playing a role in establishing the Office of the Independent Monitor. Copley's annual salary started at $122,000 annually.

"I am resigning from my position as Madison’s independent police monitor, effective immediately," Copley said in her resignation letter. She expressed hope that the Office of the Independent Monitor (OIM) would continue its mission despite the transition.
