CAMDEN, S.C. — Two Florida residents are in custody following an armed burglary attempt and a high-speed vehicle pursuit through Camden on Friday afternoon.

Around 1:40 p.m., deputies with the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to a report of an attempted home invasion on the 900 block of Wateree Boulevard.

The homeowner, alerted by her doorbell camera, observed a masked man on her doorstep carrying birthday balloons in one hand and what appeared to be a handgun in the other.

The suspect attempted to enter the home but was unsuccessful after the homeowner refused to open the door and quickly called 911.
