COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Columbia Planning Commission will consider a new subdivision with more than 200 new town homes this week near Burnside Elementary, as some residents are voicing their concerns, saying the project could worsen already dangerous traffic conditions.

The proposed subdivision, called Casetta Pines , would built 243 new homes on more than 60 acres along Patterson Road, near the border between the City of Columbia and unincorporated Richland County. The area currently consists of open land and historic neighborhoods, like the Captiol View Neighborhood, where many families have lived for decades.
