SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Four months into a major multi-year construction project at one of the region’s busiest intersections, Springfield businesses are experiencing an unexpected benefit.
The “X” intersection project in Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood - where Sumner Avenue, Belmont Avenue, and Dickinson Street converge - broke ground in May. While many business owners initially worried about potential revenue losses during the lengthy construction period, some are finding the opposite to be true. Jose Cuevas, owner of The Farmer’s House Restaurant, said the construction has actually helped his business. “It affects me in a good way because the construction workers stop by and visit,” Cuevas said. “They come in the morning and have breakfast, they come for lunch.”
