A federal judge has dealt a temporary blow to President Donald Trump’s plans to deploy National Guard soldiers to Portland, Oregon, a city he’s described as a “war zone, ” and one that its residents and leaders hotly dispute.

In an unusual late-night ruling on Sunday, U.S. District Judge Karin J. Immergut issued a new and broader order barring any National Guard soldiers from being relocated to any state for federal service in Oregon, The Associated Press reported .

The ruling came a day after Immergut blocked Trump from mobilizing Oregon’s National Guard. In response, the Republican president attempted to relocate soldiers from California, which led to the latest ruling.
