PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with a crash that killed a young girl on a west Phoenix freeway on Sunday night.
Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers responded to the crash on Interstate 10 near 67th Avenue just before 8 p.m.
An initial investigation by DPS found that a pickup truck driven by 21-year-old Turatsinze Gadi of Avondale, crashed into another passenger vehicle and caused that vehicle to veer left across the freeway and crash into the concrete median wall.
Five people were in the second passenger vehicle. A 6-year-old girl from Phoenix was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead. A 4-year-old was also hospitalized and is now in stable condition, according to DPS.
