PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man has been sentenced to four life terms plus an additional 20 years in prison for a violent rape that happened at a south Scottsdale park more than two years ago.
On Monday, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced the sentencing for 49-year-old James Morris, who was convicted of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman while her boyfriend watched.
Prosecutors stated that in July 2023, Morris approached the couple, who were sitting on a bench at Civic Center Park , late at night. At the time, he reportedly accused the woman of being a pregnant prostitute who owed him money.
Authorities said the couple said they were afraid, and gave him money to get him to leave, but he wouldn’t go away, and instead threatened the couple before raping the woman. Befor
