TOWSON, Md. —
Members of Maryland's congressional delegation are requesting the withholding of pay during the ongoing federal government shutdown .
U.S. Rep. Johnny Olszewski, D-District 2, announced on Monday that he requested to the House Office of Human Resources to have his pay withheld, saying members of Congress should be treated just like federal employees and the nation's troops. U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Maryland, made a similar request to withhold his pay.
Olszewski called on Republicans and Democrats to come to the table.
"The best way to have closure and the best way to reopen this government is to actually talk to each other," Olszewski said.
