The Millcreek Township School Board praised Ian Roberts when he was hired in 2020 to lead the second-largest public school system in Erie County and one of the largest in northwestern Pennsylvania.
Roberts time in Millcreek included his guiding of the district through the pandemic as well as a gun incident with him and settlements that ended discrimination claims under his watch.
Roberts left Millcreek to lead the Des Moines Public Schools in Iowa, where he resigned his post on Sept. 30 rather than prove to the Des Moines School Board that he is a citizen of the United States.
