JET-SKIERS are being put on notice about "trial exclusion zones" at Port Stephens over four weeks during the peak Christmas holiday season, starting Christmas Eve.

Exactly where the exclusion zones will be in place has not been confirmed.

News of the trial was announced in Nelson Bay at the end of the long weekend and the start of Safe Boating Week today (Monday, October 6) with a focus on lifejackets, "safe choices on the water and respectful sharing of waterways".

Authorities say the trial will run from December 24 to January 26 at locations identified by local communities as areas of concern, the details of which will be released "in the coming weeks".
