A group representing small businesses is calling for a quick resolution to the Alberta teachers’ strike, warning the ongoing work stoppage will cut into staffing and exacerbate existing uncertainty.

In a Monday news release, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) warned that its members could be left without key workers as the strike continues, cutting into their bottom lines.

“When employees are forced to stay home to care for children during work hours, productivity drops, and in many cases, so do sales,” stated Kayode Southwood, a CFIB policy analyst.
