Australia’s top-ranked women’s player, Daria Kasatkina, has declared she’s at “breaking point” and has taken the option to “tap out” for the rest of 2025 due to the stress of switching her international allegiances.

In a lengthy social media post, the world number 19, who left Russia fearing for her safety and now plays under the Australian flag, said the toll of the tour grind was “too much” having also made such a big change in her life.

Kasatkina, who openly criticised Russia’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws and the war on Ukraine, moved to Melbourne from Dubai but has been on the road for much of the year and said she needed to take a break.
