LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington lawmaker is proposing new legislation that would prohibit school districts from using taxpayer funds to hire lobbyists, a move that directly targets Fayette County Public Schools following recent investigative coverage.

State Representative Vanessa Grossl, R-House District 88, announced the proposed legislation after WKYT Investigates revealed FCPS paid a lobbying firm $38,000 to promote a failed tax increase . The contract was approved during the same period the district faced a $16 million budget deficit.
