APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - City officials in Appleton are warning residents to double-check their most recent utility bill, as a mistake with a new billing system has led to some duplexes and non-standard living units seeing an extra cost, added to stormwater service.

Some residents told Action 2 News on Monday that the charge is more than double.

City officials say that this mistake in billing is reflected in less than 4% of the bills that went out to residents last week. Still, it’s led to some confusion and a lot of questions.

“Something’s wrong there,” Curt Esser, an Appleton utility user, said.
