WALTHOURVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - More financial troubles in the city of Walthourville owes $40,000 to Liberty Transit, making it an uphill battle to keep a bus route in the area.

For the people of Liberty County who don’t have a vehicle of their own, the Liberty County transit is crucial.

“I was told we have about a hundred citizens in Walthourville that use this service, so it’s going to affect them tremendously,” said Walthourville City Councilman Patrick Underwood.

Underwood mentioned a payment plan would likely be the way that council tries to keep bus routes in the area.

He also says that most of the riders take the bus each day to get to the doctor, their jobs, or the grocery store.
