INDIANAPOLIS — A Morgan County data center has the green light to expand its footprint. In a 2-1 vote, county commissioners approved a 158-acre rezoning request for an unknown company to build a data center outside Monrovia.

Commissioners previously approved 390 acres for the company in February. The site boundary follows Indiana 42, North Antioch Road, Keller Hill Road and Union Church Road.

Around 20 county residents came to speak against the project, concerned there hasn’t been enough transparency to understand it.

“We have committed our lives to the town of Monrovia, and we want to see better business for Monrovia,” Carrie Syczylo said. “We don’t want a data center. We want things that will attract people to come to our town to spend money in our small businesses.”
