HOLDEN, Maine — A new playground in Holden is doing more than giving kids a place to play — it's honoring a legacy of kindness.

Community members gathered Monday at Holbrook School for the opening of the Chris Greeley Champions of Kindness Playground, named after the late Holden police chief known for his compassion, generosity, and deep connection to his community.

The playground's name was inspired by the "25 Days of Kindness" initiative — a program Chief Greeley launched in 2016 to encourage acts of giving during the holiday season. The organization contributed $5,000 toward the new playground, helping turn what started as small as Greeley buying a coffee for a stranger into a legacy cemented in giving back.
