AUSTIN, Texas — Construction is set to begin soon on a new CapMetro rail station in North Austin.

The North Burnet/Uptown Station will be added to the Red Line, which runs from Leander to Downtown Austin. The new station will be located off Burnet Road, near The Domain shopping center.

Officials said crews will be on-site this month to prepare for the project, with full construction expected to begin in November. The station will be surrounded by apartments and office buildings. CapMetro officials expect it to become the busiest stop on the Red Line.

“This is a testament to the hard work of city staff and CapMetro in the ongoing effort to listen to residents who continue to seek accessible, high-quality public transportation,” Austin City Council Member Mike Siegel said in a statement.
