President Donald Trump dodged a question Monday on whether he'd consider pardoning Jeffrey Epstein's former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, saying he will "speak to the DOJ" about it.
In an Oval Office session with reporters, Trump said hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs also asked him for a pardon.
“I have a lot of people who have asked me for pardons,” Trump said. He added, “Puff Daddy has asked me for a pardon.” “Puff Daddy” is a name the influential hip-hop figure has used professionally. Combs representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Combs was sentenced last week to four years and two months in prison for transporting people across state lines for sexual encounters.
The Supreme Court earlier on Monday rejected an appeal from Maxwell, the imprisoned former girlfriend of Epstein.
Lawyers for Maxwell argued that she never should have been tried or convicted for her role in luring teenage girls to be sexually abused by Epstein, a New York financier.
As for Maxwell, Trump said he hadn't heard her name in "so long” after a reporter asked about the possibility of a pardon for the British socialite.
“I'm going to have to take a look at it,” he said. “I have to ask DOJ.”
