An interim fire chief has been chosen by the city of Idaho Falls as Chief Duane Nelson prepares to step down Oct. 17.

Deputy Chief Paul Radford will serve on an interim basis as the city conducts a national search for a new chief, said Kimberly Felker, public information officer for the mayor.
