Chris Biehl has resigned as basketball coach at Holy Cross, he said Monday. In his place will be former coach Mister Kirkwood, who stepped away from the position in the spring so he could move into another role at the school.

Biehl became the Holy Cross coach in the spring after he resigned from Brother Martin after 12 seasons.

Biehl did not provide a specific reason for his decision.

“Sometimes when you come home and you’re not where you need to be, it’s a pretty clear sign that it’s time for a change,” said Biehl, who also will not continue as a senior level math teacher at the school.

Biehl said leaving the team at this point “is legitimately one of the toughest things I have ever done,” and that “it was in my personal best interest or my family’s best interest at this time to leave
