It felt "pretty amazing" when Kaytetye woman Erica Glynn first walked into the writers' room for season two of ABC TV's Mystery Road: Origin.

It was the first time the series had an all-Blak writers' team, and it inspired an all-too-important level of trust for the screenwriter and director, known for Redfern Now and Black Comedy. 

That trust was necessary considering the weight of the subject they were taking on: the Australian healthcare system, and the disparity between how it treats Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, as well as the part it played in colonial policies, like assimilation.

It was a "tricky" subject to tackle, Glynn admits.

"We're all dependent on a fairly luxurious national health system … but there are flaws, particularly in remote areas, and it's a fact of life,"
