HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) — Many people experience getting constant phone calls from telemarketers. To avoid this, you can sign up to add your number to a national Do Not Call Registry. But what about when someone comes knocking on your door trying to sell you something? The Village of Horseheads is trying to find a solution for that.

Village Mayor Kevin Adams is looking to create a No Knock Registry to help cut back on those unwanted solicitors. The new law would be added to the village's current Peddler and Solicitor Law.

The proposed plan would allow village residents to sign up and receive a decal for their door that warns potential salespeople that they are on the No Knock List. If solicitors try to sell at a residence that is on the list, they would be fined $250 every time they vio
