FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani has fired back at President Donald Trump after he threatened to move World Cup games from some United States cities.
Montagliani said last week that Trump has no say in where games are played, according to ESPN .
“It’s FIFA’s tournament, FIFA’s jurisdiction, FIFA makes those decisions,” he said at a sports business conference in London, per ESPN.
Montagliani added that the World Cup is bigger than Donald Trump or any other individual.
“With all due respect to current world leaders, football is bigger than them and football will survive their regime and their government and their slogans,” he continued. “That’s the beauty of our game, is that it is bigger than any individual and bigger than any country.”
