PHOENIX (AZFamily) —A man is dead after police say he shot his wife before turning the gun on himself at a central Phoenix home on Sunday morning.

Phoenix police said at about 11:08 am, first responders were dispatched to the area of 3rd Street and Purdue Avenue for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, officers found a woman who had been shot.

She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

Officers learned a man was still inside the house and dispatched the Special Assignments Unit and detectives, according to Phoenix PD. They established a perimeter around the house and began negotiating with the suspect.
