Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Manchester City striker Erling Haaland after his winning goal against Brentford on Sunday.

The Norway international has scored in nine consecutive matches for club and country after netting the only goal in the 1-0 win at Brentford . The former Borussia Dortmund forward has already scored 12 goals across all competitions for Pep Guardiola's side this season - nine of which have been scored in the Premier League .

Haaland has now scored 94 goals in the English top-flight, with many tipping him to break the all-time record of 260 set by Shearer. That has inevitably led to comparisons between the two, with Shearer's goals spread across 14 seasons at Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers.
