DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - After years of detours and construction, the Twin Ports Interchange project is complete, marking the end of the notorious “Can of Worms” that had challenged drivers for decades.
Construction on the I-35, I-535, and the Highway 53 interchange first began in 2021.
Local and state leaders gathered Monday to celebrate what the project’s completion means for the region and for everyday commuters.
“The Can of Worms is no longer a thing, which is something to celebrate,” said Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert during the ceremony.
