WARREN, R.I. (WPRI) — State Rep. Jason Knight on Monday night kicked off his campaign to become Rhode Island's next attorney general, joining a race that has changed radically in the last week.
Knight, 55, made his announcement during an event at The Guild in Warren. He was first elected to represent Barrington and Warren in the House in 2016, when he defeated incumbent Democrat Jan Malik in the Democratic primary.
"I have the grit and the integrity and the experience to stand up and push back against the bullies and the billionaires, like Donald Trump," Knight said in his campaign launch video. "And that's because public service and the pursuit of justice are in my blood."
