YOUNGSTOWN A Youngstown woman has been sentenced after allegedly defrauding money from the Medicaid program as a provider.
Janay Veal of Youngstown was indicted in June of 2025 with Medicaid fraud, as well as a felony theft charge.
In a news release from the Ohio Attorney General's Office in June, Veal allegedly continued to bill for services after removing herself from a recipient's plan of care. The amount stated to have been lost by Medicaid was $4,923.
On Monday, Veal pleaded guilty to an amended count of theft, a first-degree misdemeanor.
The Medicaid fraud charge, listed as "Count 1" in the original indictment, was dismissed by nolle prosequi, according to court documentation.
This means that the charge was abandoned by the prosecutor or plaintiff, and they will not proceed
