NEW YORK—Shortstop Bo Bichette did not travel with the Blue Jays to New York, remaining in Toronto to continue his rehab from a sprained left knee.

Bichette was ruled out for the American League division series when the Jays left him off the roster before Saturday’s deadline . The earliest he can return is the AL Championship Series if the Jays finish off the New York Yankees. They currently lead the best-of-five division series 2-0.

There are still several hurdles that Bichette must clear, including running the bases and hitting high velocity pitches. By skipping New York, he gets to take advantage of the Jays’ rehab services at the Rogers Centre.
