A man who turned up to a birthday party uninvited, began to drink guests' drinks without their permission and then allegedly groped a teenage girl's breast has appeared in court.

The man, whose identity is protected, has pleaded not guilty to one count each of indecent assault and assault with indecent intent in connection to the incident two years ago.

The complainant, then aged 17, testified before Chief Magistrate Catherine Geason on Monday morning that the man, aged in his 50s, first approached her while she was alone in the kitchen listening to music.

The alleged attack occurred at a house party on the Tasman Peninsula on the night of August 26, 2023.

The woman, now 19 years old, told the court that after a brief conversation, the man invited her to touch his hand in a 'high-five'
