One man is in custody after reports that a man was firing shots near the Gateway SkyTrain station in Surrey Monday afternoon (Oct. 26).

At about 3:13 p.m. Surrey Police Service officers who were nearby reported that a man was shooting near the station at University Drive and 108 Avenue. No members of the public or police officers were injured, but the man fled. Police found him in front of the nearby District 1 Community Police Office, where he reportedly fired more shots.

Officers from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team and the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service responded to assist SPS officers and were able to take the man safely into custody.
