The weather took a sharp turn across North India, with continuous overnight rain drenching Delhi-NCR and snowfall occurring in higher Himalayan regions. Heavy showers began late Monday evening and continued through the night, bringing temperatures in Delhi and adjoining areas down sharply. By Tuesday morning, the skies remained overcast and rain persisted across large parts of the capital region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the spell was triggered by an active western disturbance moving across the western Himalayan region. It forecast light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells in parts of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and northern Rajasthan over the next 24 hours, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
