A judge has dismissed a claim that Karen Read negligently inflicted emotional distress on John O’Keefe’s niece at the time of his death, but allowed several other allegations in the wrongful death lawsuit to move forward, records show.

In a 13-page ruling issued Friday in Plymouth Superior Court, Judge Daniel J. O’Shea granted a defense motion to dismiss the negligent infliction of emotional distress claim related to O’Keefe’s niece .

O’Shea let stand the niece’s claim of reckless or intentional infliction of emotional distress, as well as related emotional distress claims brought by O’Keefe’s parents and brother. A claim of wrongful death also remains pending .
