GORHAM, Maine — Four people were brought to the hospital Monday evening after a car flipped into a pond in Gorham during a crash, according to the Gorham Police Department.

Police said the crash happened around 5 p.m. in the area of 70 Brackett Road. A 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by a 34-year-old man from Westbrook ended up upside down and fully submerged in a fire pond after colliding with another vehicle.

The Westbrook man was able to escape, but two passengers were trapped inside, police said. Gorham firefighters dove into the water and rescued both passengers, who were taken to Maine Medical Center in "serious condition."
